WEEE categories are defined by the Environment Agency are are used to catalogue waste when reporting into them.
These are as follows:

- Consumer equipment such as TV’s or radios
- Lighting equipment such as tubes and lamps
- Electrical and electronic tools such as drills or saws
- Toys, leisure and sports equipment such as gaming or exercise equipment
- Medical devices from hospitals or doctors
- Monitoring and control equipment such as heating controls or smoke detectors.
- Automatic dispensers such as snack and hot drinks dispensers
WEEE compliance remains the same for each category including waste transfer notes, secure storage, hazardous waste consignment notes, duty of care and obligation reporting.
